Is there a better way to explore the flavors of Spanish cuisine than doing so with tapas-style small plates? We’d go so far as to say there isn’t, which is why anyone who is interested in tasting staples of the Iberian peninsula should check out Melrose’s T’ahpas 529, on Franklin Street.
A new tapas restaurant, bar, and lounge is coming to the northern suburbs of Boston, and it will be moving into an historic building that another dining spot had been looking at before those plans fell through.
On a recent Thursday night, not one of those freaky warm nights, but a chilly February evening, the wait at T’ahpas 529 is close to 45 minutes. It seems like the entire city of Melrose has turned out to try the new 77-seat restaurant. Earlier in the week it’s easier to get in. There is no reservation system.
IN THE KITCHEN Lorenzo and Emily Tenreiro are in love — with each other, with their adopted hometown of Melrose, where they’re raising four children, and with introducing Latin American-influenced menus to the region.
A new Spanish restaurant and wine bar made its debut in Melrose shortly before the end of 2016 and is now going strong in the new year. T’ahpas 529 is up and running at 529 Franklin St., serving tapas, Spanish wines, and so much more.
